Well with no 6970's available at newegg, people looking to buy high end will be buying Nvidia. Unless these 28nm cards are around the corner.
Where are all the 6970's?

I sincerely doubt that a few weeks is going to make a difference either way.

"We’re pleased to see that demand for our 6900 series products remain very strong. The shortfall of some of these parts you’ve seen is only temporary – more supply is going into the channel in the next 2-3 weeks, and you will start seeing products more readily available imminently."

AMD claims it is on track to introduce a revamped lineup of GPUs

Still nothing about retail avalability in Q4.

From the OP's link...........

"The first Radeon HD 7000 series cards are now expected to release in Q1 2012, according to Liao. This is contrary to previous reports suggesting a release in Q4 2011

I never heard AMD say Q4 release in retail channels,as in cards will be avalable.
Mabe they meant production in Q4 and release later, just like Nvidia said about the 6 series release.

"AMD Says Radeon HD 7000 GPUs Are on Track for 2011 Launch"

That does not say they will launch a product in retail by the end of 2011.

The article says a month ago they were on track to release a product.

Mabe they had some difficulties with there ES?

Sorry mate, that's as good as it gets in this business. As long as there's no retraction I'm going with it, as it's the best info from the best source there is. You are right that they did not use exactly the phrase you are looking for. You need to apply to be his press secretary to fix that.

What's the problem with it being a month ago? They don't give daily updates.

Mabe they had some difficulties with there ES?

Link?

And this person also says 40nm? Or was that someone else?
