Hello

I am considering buying a 128MB PowerColor Evil Commando 2 Gold Radeon 9700 (non pro). I was wondering if anyone else had the same board or have heard any comments about it. I read somewhere that powercolor make some dodgy boards (underclocked and not very reliable) can someone please confirm or deny this..
Thanks

I have a NewEgg-Refurbished PowerColor Gold Radeon 9700. When I first received it I was dismayed at the fact that is was clocked so low at 297/263. I have been able to successfully Overclock the card as high as 330/310 (never maxed out core) and currently keep it set at 310/300. At these settings, it scores about 1200 3DMarks (2k1) higher than my overclocked R9500Pro at the same speeds.

I have not had ANY problems with the card at all....graphics in 2D and 3D look great.

I had tons of problems with checkerboarding and video distortion on one I bought about 2 months ago. Tried all combinations of drivers, clock speeds and settings to no avail. I finally ended up returning it to Newegg and bought a Crucial 9700 Pro. I have had ZERO problems with the Crucial card.

Yes, the difference of 1200 is wrong...
Actually I scored 13694 with my overclocked R9500 PRO and 16187 with my overclocked R9700 NP. About a 2500 pt increase.
