hi! im out to find as many opinion as i can out there, may it be first hand experience or not, which of these two video cards are a better performer overall(OC performance/reliability/product package)? i'd really appreciate those one's who have owned these two and actually tested them inside out... :)

BTW, this is just my budget range, so i narrowed down to these two products as they are both readily available in my place...

thanks

Long term benefit is nearly impossible to plan for
My philosophy is
buy good value card
use card
sell card for ~1/2 value (usually slightly more)
buy another good value card.

Bottom of the line cards are rarely good value cards. What good is DX9 compliance when you can't use DX 9 functions because the card is too slow.
Case in point, the BFV tests from Tom's:
http://graphics.tomshardware.c...004/vga_charts-11.html

The Radeon 9600 isn't really playable at 1024x768 with the highest graphics settings at 28.9 FPS (it's not really because the minimum FPS in BFV with settings on highest is REALLY low, even with my 9700 @ Pro speeds I would get dips down into the 10-12 FPS range with DX9 options enabled, I'd hate to see those rates on a 9600). Now you're considering a card worse than that.

So to get comfortable framerates, you'd have to move graphics down to ~Medium, which uses DX8.1 shaders instead of DX9 shaders. So you'd be using a DX9 card with DX8.1 functionality because it's so slow.

Far Cry?
http://graphics.tomshardware.c...004/vga_charts-08.html

Even worse.

DX9 is a paper spec unless you have a card fast enough to actually utilize the DX9 functions. People get caught up in having DX9 functionality, then end up running at settings that drop down to DX8.1 shaders. All the DX specs in the world cannot make up for low pixel fillrates and low memory bandwidth. I do not understand some people's motivations.

no, but they are still a way better buy than the sh!t you listed. those cards may be DX9 compliant, and thats the key word...compliant. they will never come close to running anything that takes advantage of DX9 capabilities, they are complete horsesh!t.

I have never seen such ignorant people. and to the orginal poster Id say go with the Jetway 9600LE(128 bit version) I have the 64bit ersion and is workign very good.

Another vote for the 9600LE as long as it really has 128bit memory.

There is no such thing as a 128bit 9600le. In the case of the 9600, "le" specificly reffers to a 64bit bus.

128mb != 128bit

See, that would be a valid point ... if the 4Ti series didn't cost about two-thirds the price of the suggested cards, will take them out behind the woodshed for a beating in DX8, and the 9550/9600LE suck so bad at DX9 that it's not worth enabling them.

Ignorwhat, no0b? :p

I got myself a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis (325 MHz core, 400 MHz mem). It's not as fast as the Atlantis Pro (400 MHz core, 600 MHz mem) but it plays Doom 3 at 800x600 medium detail.

1024x768x32 no AA/AF
3DMark01SE: 9,000
3DMark03: 2450

Not earthshattering, but good for the casual FPS gamer.

Your Card, look no further, a working card, a reliable seller, and a GREAT contender, the Radeon 9500 Pro is comparable, and better by 2-3 FPS than a 5700u, and a 9600XT. All 3 of which would utterly decimate a 9550.

BTW: The auction ends in under 2 1/2 hours so if you want it, hop AWN IT! try not to spend more than $115 for it tho.

Better yet, search FS/T and find one that's selling for US$110 shipped with a Zalman heatpipe ... sold by someone named MercenaryForHire ... :p

first of all, don't use the word n00b. Makes you looks so stupid you can't even imagine.Anyways Like I said what if the guy has only 70$ bucks to spend? what if the guy has been gaming on a Riva TNT 2 for 4 friggin years(like myself) and just wants to upgrade but NOO, there has to be those people that don't give a single piece of sh*t and always say "OMGZ, SAVE UP OR DUN BUY DAT CARD , BUY A BETTA ONE" , You could at least have teh dignity to ask if teh guy was on a budget, if he needed the card like Right now, and whats the purpose of the card. After that You can recommend opnions.jesus...

While we're talking about people looking stupid, I bolded "teh" parts where you suck at "teh" English language. Please try to be sober the next time you post.

You also seem to be "teh" lacking at "teh" reading comprehension. The gF4 TI series is:

[ ] Cheaper
[ ] Faster in DX8
[ ] About as equipped to handle DX9 as the two neutered cards listed in the first post
[ ] Available in swarms from eBay, FS/T, or local secondhand purchase
[X] All of the above

That makes it in his budget, readily obtainable, and the best bang for the buck.

Now touch your toes and try to fart - you might manage to dislodge your head from your ass ... no0b. ;)

Newer != better. How many times do we have to say that? Just because the card is a 9xxx and the Ti was the gen before that doesn't mean it isn't an LE/SE hobbled version. And M4H is right, recommending a better card for less is typically considered a nice thing to do, rocklimit.

As for "long term benefit" of a crippled DX9 card, there is none. If it can't run DX9 well, it doesn't mean jack that it can run it at all. The minimum for a decent DX9 investment is a 9800Pro, maybe a 9600Pro...but neither of the cards you listed will do the job.

Either spend less, get more performance but no DX9 with the Ti4200, or spend more and get more performance and DX9 with the 9600Pro or 9800Pro. But for God's sake don't listen to someone who thinks a 9600LE runs good as a "64bit ersion" (sic).

I should say the same to you. Do you know how to read?
A geforce 4 Ti 4200 is CHEAPER than a radeon 9550 or 9600LE, and it's FASTER.
Understand?
