Powercolor 9800 SE "C3G"....G?

Back when this card was the hot thing to softmod...I only recall there being two models...the C3L, and the C3. The C3L being the one running at non pro specs, and the C3 being the one running at pro specs. Now I'm seeing a C3G on newegg. Here, look.

C3G

It comes bundled with a game, yes, but in the actual card details itself, I see no difference between it and the C3. Now I'm wondering...do you think perhaps this model are cards that Powercolor slapped R360 cores onto, to get rid of them? That would be awesome....an almost guaranteed 128mb 9800 "XT" for $149 shipped. Any thoughts, speculations? Anyone actually buy this card?

it's listed on powercolor's website too. Just says it's a 256 bit 9800 se...blah blah blah. They list SC3's and other ones too. Just buy one and let us know. 🙂. I got $146 for my powercolor 9800se on ebay last week, so you won't be out too much if it doesn't work.

I read customers' reviews on this card, and nobody mentioned an R360 core. I have a PowerColor 9800 SE "C3" softmodded successfully to Pro, and it rocks!
I thought R360 cores have different PCBs from R350, but this card has one just like mine, so it looks like it's an R350.
Sapphire is the only manufacturer that sells R360 9800SEs, right?

Actually what you are thinking of is the 9800's pcb that is on powercolor cards that are labeled "se". Its either a 128bit pcb or a 256bit. Many vendors sell the R360 core on their 9800p cards, but i dont beleive any are on the SE version cards.

I wasn't expecting any of the customer reviews to say anything helpful. I find that a lot of the people who write reviews on newegg are idiots. I just think it's weird that Powercolor suddenly creates a "new" model with no differences on the surface. I'm tempted to try. If I sold my current card, it would probably only take $50 cash out of my pocket to get the card, but I don't know if the difference between a "9700 pro" and a 9800 pro would be worth $50. What do you think?

*Edit*
Meh, I'm just going to get a 6800 NU. Solves that problem 😛
