I just came into possession of a PowerBook G4 A1025. When I plug in the power adapter, it lights up. However, when I press the button on the battery, I get no lights. Also, the computer will not power on.

Is this one of those models that will not power on with a bad battery?

I don't have your answer, but in case anyone else might;

It is a 1GHz Apple TiBook, Titanium PowerBook

Power adapter might just be giving under volt. Ive seen G4 power adapters putting out like 3 - 5V under what they are rated for, and because of this the computer can't do anything with the power, won't charge battery, won't power on, etc. But the little ring on the AC adapter still lights up.

Interesting. I will see if I can measure what the adapter is putting out.

Thanks.

There's a PMU reset button under the keyboard, it's tiny and hard to see. Try pushing that once, waiting 10 secs, and then hit the power button. If it still doesn't work, disconnect the PRAM battery, you can see the connector for it under the keyboard as well, hit the PMU reset again, and then hit the power button. If it powers on after that, you'll need a new PRAM battery.
