Hey all. A friend of mine has a Powerbook G4 that she dropped, and as a result, the display is ruined (~80% of the screen is covered with vertical lines when turned on). I was wondering if it's possible to replace the screen, and if so, how much it would cost. Anyone have any experience doing this? Thanks.

check eBay for parts. There are intructions on line on how to open up the powerbooks. I would open the powerbook up first to make sure YOU can do it before spending the few hundred dollars need to buy the LCD. Then again. she may be better off, calling Apple about the repair, they may charge a fixed fee to replace the screen.

which model? TI or Alu? Send me a msg if u need instruction to replace the screen.

for TI powerbook... u need to disassemble the whole thing to take the screen apart. hopefully she didn't damage the hinges.
