I remember reading something on the forums about joining some membership program with Apple which entitled you to bigger discounts on their products as well as copies of their OS if updated, and other products.

Does anyone know what this program was?

Apple Developers Program?

Last time I checked, it was $99 for students and gave you a one time discount on Apple laptops of > $200.

They DO charge tax on the computer setups. If you're going for a stock powerbook it may be worth your time to go with the Amazon deal they have running now...$150 MIR.

You MUST be a college/university student to be eligible for this deal.

This is the way to go. You get free OS updates for a year too. I just got my copy of Tiger in the mail. Sign up for the student developer program. Once you're confirmed, you can use the developer store for a once in a lifetime purchase. You can save somewhere around 20% with this program. I saved about $400 by buying my powerbook this way.

I'm going to college this coming fall--> Is there anyway I can still order it now?
It wants some confirmation #'s and stuff.

I needed to scan my school ID on top of my current schedule. A transcript or acceptance letter along with an ID would work too. I'm assuming that if you just were accepted you could scan your drivers lisence and your acceptance letter??? Call the guys from the developers connection they are very helpful and will tell you what's what...

That should work fine. I'd give them a call just in case.. this isn't MS these guys are really easy to talk to. I called once and there was no wait to talk to a real person!
