Power went out, now one computer won't connect

Over the weekend the power went out and shut down a total of 4 computers. Now I have a server, which the other 3 computers connect to through a domain. For internet, all the computers are hooked up to a Linksys router. Now, after the power outage, all computers started up fine, and all connected to the internet and the domain, except for one. The one that didn't connect can't access the mapped drives (to the server), or connect to the internet. The error on the screen says that the network cable is unplugged. So I checked all connections and they were good, however the light on the router shows no activity, and the green lights on the computers onboard NIC aren't coming on. I tried switching the cables around, restarting the computer, releasing and renewing the ip's, resetting the router, etc.

Is it possible the power outage fried the onboard NIC somehow? Any ideas? I really need this up and running asap... thanks guys.

IF the NIC is a card, try taking out the NIC and putting it in a different slot.

Actually, before that, go to Device Manager and see if the NIC still shows up. Might have fried the NIC somehow would be my guess.

Thanks for the reply. I actually fixed the problem but I have no idea how. The computer that I thought the NIC was bad on, I took it and plugged it in to another cat5 cable for one of the computers that was working (our network is wired through the walls), and the NIC light came on where it wouldn't come on at it's original spot. So I took the computer that worked, and plugged the cat5 into it from the station that didn't work, and the light came on! So now both computers were showing connection. I didn't boot up the computers, I just swapped them back to their original spots and everything connected and worked great as soon as they booted up.

Now, what in the world would have caused this to happen? I have no clue as to why this worked. If the power ever goes out again, I don't want to have to do this every time to make it work. Does anyone have a sniff of what a quicker fix might be for next time?
