Power vcr 2 and no sound?? wtf?

I recently installed powervcr on my win2k system and oddly enuph sound shuts off whenever i try to record. i have it set to use line in as thats what my haupauge card uses. sound is fine during plain tv, but shuts off completely during recording. i checked volume control panel and it doesn't mute line in so thats not it.

not sure what else could affect it. installed newest santa cruz drivers, direct x, newest hauppauge drivers. its nutty.🙁
