Power use of a laptop with a bad battery?

We have a laptop set up to be left on 24/7. It has Magic Jack and a few other thing running on it so we need it on all the time.. The laptop is a HP with a bad battery. It won't hold a charge at all. So does it use twice as much power as since the battery doesn't work? 1/2 to charge a never ending battery and 1/2 to run the laptop??

Thanks.

Remove the battery completely for 24/7 usage. Never heard of a laptop that would not boot and run directly off of the A/C adapter. What kind is it? If what you say is true about not booting sans battery, I will add it to my "Never Buy" list. :)

Some old Toshiba laptops also would not work if there is No Battery.

OP the Laptop probably takes a little more with he busted battery but not anything close to 50%.

However it is once more the mainstream American oxymoron.

OEM Battery probably cost around $40.

The computer must be very important since it works 24/7.

Very Important vs. $40 Hmm... - -
