Power Up Problem

My upgrade to the AK31 failed, so I put the ECS board back in the box until I can get a replacement for the AK31. Now when it powers up it runs for about 3-4 seconds and then shuts off. grrr I cant win for loosing. Any suggestions?

If ur PC internal speaker in connected properly & there is no beep...next question is do the mobo chipset get hot. If yes, the mobo may not be dead...just maybe some jumper setting mess up. If the mobo is cold...yeah its dead/bad mobo.

I had this MB in my computer but was having problems with it freezing up, so I replaced it with the Shuttle AK31 which crashed on bios upgrade and I sent it back for replacement. Meanwhile I thought I would put the ECS back in, but it shuts down after 5 seconds. No it cannot be getting hot that quick, I even uplugged the power and left it overnight, still same thing early this morning. I have checked all the connections and cannot find anything wrong with any of them. My luck has been running bad lately. Just built the computer with the ECS and Athlon 1.4, had problems, went to the AK31, more problems, went back to ECS wont work at all. grrrrrr I can fix everyone else's computer just not my own.

1. Try clear CMOS & plug the HSF into the mobo fan header (if currently u r using the 4-pin plug).
2. Check the riser under the mobo (could be something short).

Found the problem, I used the heatsink from the AK board which was much larger, it was touching a resistor on the board. Put back the origninal heat sink and everything is back working. Thanks for the help and suggestions.
