I like my Makita stuff the most. The Dewalt stuff I have always seems to piss me off, I guess I should have realized upscale Balck&Decker is kind of like a yugo with leather interior and a cool paint job. Millwaukee makse some damn nice stuff if you don't mind spending a little more. Porter Cable stuff looks nice too but I have no personal experience. My future purchases will be either Makita or Millwaukee.....but Bosch makes the best jigsaws I've ever used.

Basically same here. My Makita jigsaw is much nicer than my craftsman jigsaw though. I have a few dewalt cordless drills and they rock (batterys are expensive though!)

Stay away from black n decker. They are like elcheapo brand. I have a Craftsman circular saw and router; they are good. Nice thing about Sears is they have the matching router tables and good return policies. I have a makita cordless drill; good. And I have a Dewalt 1/2" drive drill; great. My table saw is like 30 years old, so I have no clue about those.

It depends on the type of tool and what you are going to do with it. You can't go wrong with Milwaukee power tools.

If my old Rockwell, purchased in 1975 ever dies, it will probably be replaced by a Milwaukee. Last year, I finally bought the drill motor I've dreamed about for years... YES! Worth every penny! ;)

I've got a huge collection of tools, and all my hand power tools are either Dewalt, Makita, or Porter Cable. They're all good, but Dewalt is the best, followed closely by Porter Cable, then Makita. Makita's are very good, but Dewalts are more ergonomically designed and better balanced IMHO.

Milwaukee and Ryobi are my choices. :)

My dad loves Dewalt and they are great as well.

I like Craftsman, and DeWalt. Milwaukee is also good. Just watch out when you get high powered drills because they will twist your arm off! :Q

I like all the tool mentioned (well except Ryobi) but I don't play favorites. I look at all the different major makes and choose the one that has the features/power I need at a price I want to pay. If it comes down to a toss up, I choose the tool with the most power.
I have Craftsman, Black and Decker (circ saw and router from over 20 years ago), Makita, Porter Cable, Milwaukee, Senco, Delta and Dewalt. There are probably a few others that I don't recall off the top of my head.

My cordless tools are all Makita. I have a Dewalt circular saw that is excellent. I have a Milwaukee Saber Saw and miter saw. I would recommend any of these brands, but I would put Milwaukee at the top.

kinda funny how people say stay away from Black and Decker and others say Dewalt is the best. You all do know that DeWalt is just a rebadged B&D right? But I can't speak because I love my bright orange, black and decker firestorm tools. They haven't failed me yet.

I Use & Prefer Milwaukee. (Their corded tools as well as their 18 volt cordless stuff rocks) They have a lifetime (limited?) warranty on the tools, even their factory refurb tools have a lifetime warranty. (Compare Milwaukee to Dewalt's warranty)
All of my Milwaukee "investments" have been well worth it.

I bought the Milwaukee 18 volt cordless Drill & Sawzall set and have easily justified its cost. I got a good deal on the set but it was still $$$.- My Bro and Dad had told me it was overkill for home consumer / non-commercial use. Until we had a couple of projects. Even my uncle who uses Dewalt tools on a daily basis at his work claimed that my Milwaukee tools seemed to be of better quality.

If you are comparing Dewalt to Milwaukee- they are basically equivalent in prices - Milwaukee has a much better warranty. I just think that Dewalt (B&D) has better marketing and is able to get their bright yellow tools out there.

I have not used Hilti or Bosch. Have used Makita in the past - not sure on their current quality.
I tend to lump the the lower price Craftsman, B&D (Firestorm), Ryobi in the same class- They'll get the job done for general around the house stuff.

Milwakee makes good high torque stuff (1/2 drills)
Makita makes good high speed stuff (cordless drills)
Ingersol Rand makes good air tools (impact wrenches)
Black and Decker makes cheap crap. (door stops, not really bad, unless you use them alot)
Craftsman makes good hand tools
Mac makes REALLY good hand tools (wrenches)

Rigid Table Saw
Craftsman Miter Saw
DeWalt Palm Sander
DeWalt Router
Craftsman 16 volt Drill

Just kind of whatever is best for the specific tool I'm buying. And some were gifts.

I like dewalt drills. Black and Decker Firestorm drills are alright too as the batteries are interchangeable with dewalts. I've seen firestorms dropped from 4 stories up on scafolding onto a hard cement floor and they still work (not intentionally). Any old table saw works great as they are beasts and they last an extremely long time.
