Power surge problem...

A computer I built for a relative won't power up. He said he had a power outage over night, which was most definitely the reason. I was thinking the psu is blown out but however the green light on the mother board is on. Does that mean its not the psu? I dont know what else to suggest he does? Any ideas?

at this point all you can do is troubleshoot.

pull everything except the cpu, ram, video card, and mobo. boot up. if that fails then exchange power supplies with a known good one. if the machine boots then youre good to go.


if that too fails, then you will have to troubleshoot part by part.

and as a side note, you would probably get a quicker response from the tech support forum. include as much info about the machine as possible, cpu, mobo, video card, ram, power supply.
