there was a lighting storm and i guess my building got hit....
my stove, TV, and laptop are dead now. most likely the motherboard of the laptop got fried right? where to send it for repair?
the repair shop near my house wanted $400 for repair. i might as well get a brand new laptop for that price!

Right. The A/C adapter will often act as a UPS and take the hit. Also, it is a good idea to leave the A/C adapter disconnected from the laptop when not in use. It's better for the battery.
