Power supplys blowing

Just had a power supply blow. I replaced it and the second one also blew. I checked the outlet (OK) and the power cord (OK). Could it be the motherboard? peripherals? It is an older MB (LX I believe with dual PII).

It is possible, but... In my experience (have replaced lots of power suplies) I think the chances of you getting a lemon are greater than your components frying it out. I have, on several occasions, gotten NEW power supplies that blew out almost every component when hooked up...and of course I used the same new PS on two systems before I figured it out, frying two systems.

If the PS blew right away I would first hook the new (third) PS up to a different system. Then to the mobo in your system and slowly add components until you either have a running system or another blown PS.

Question directed to me? No. Mostly the replacement power supplies we used were Enhance, AOpen, can't remember the rest. The ones BEING replaced in mass amounts were Deer. Stay away from Deer. Deer is suck. And sometimes they take the system with em.

I had the same problem you did and when I swapped the motherboards out the problems all went away. I went through 4 power supplies before switching out the mobo.
