I've got a gateway computer with an Astec 250 watt psu and so far the only thing i've done to it is add a tv tuner card. I've gonna be upgrading:
Oxnard crappy mobo w/ via 133 chipset and 128 mb 133mhz ram to MSI pro2 w/ via 266a chipset and 384 mb 2100 ddr
Geforce2 gts 32mb to a Gainward ti 200

My question is do you think I'll be ok with my current power supply with this upgrade?
Thanks

if you're upgrading to an msi pro2, i'm guessing you'll also have an amd xp, and it's recommended that you have at least a 300w psu. i would go for a 330-350w to be on the safe side.

Reading in Lockergnome [edit: sorry for the brain fart] Tech Specialist newsletter, the guy's running like 4 good machines (DVD's, hubs, multiple drives, etc.) and a 17" monitor off a 750W (I think, somewhere around there) UPS, and only hitting 43%. His take on it, which makes sense, is it's not just the Wattage, but the quality that matters. If it's a decent PS, no problem. If it's crappy, it'll problably still be fine, but...?

No, I think I'm sticking with the amd 1 ghz that came with the computer for now, prolly upgrade in a year. My psu is most likely crappy since it came with the gateway but I figured since I'm only upgrading a couple things it could hold out. Thanks for the replies.

Sorta off topic, but anyone know how much wattage a CPU takes up? I can't imagine it'd be all that much...
