Power Supply

I just ordered a AMD t-bird 1.4ghz and after i did that i decided to look at AMDs website for approved Powersupplies. I have a ANTEC Powersupply Model number PP-303x. They have a PP-403x up but not mine..... does this mean my powersupply wont work with the 1.4ghz???

It may work, but it's not recommended. For the most part the recommendations are for power supplies with the least amount of problems. If you have just the basic components ie; 1 HD, 1 Optical drive, etc then you may be fine.

Go here for AMD list quide click here I would use at least 350w Enermax or higher, other brands like Sparkle 400w,Antec 400w will be fine, note the list does not give all the recommended PSUs just a guide.

🙂

just ordered a Antec 400 watt AMD approved Power supply. Sigh. extra 85$ on my new system

Which here are the specs

1.4Ghz t-bird
Epox 8k7a mobo
512mb PC2100 RAM
30gb ATA-66 7200rpm hard drive (didnt upgrade my hard drive)
Prophet 2 64mb (didnt upgrade that. waiting few months)
Sound blaster Live Value (had for ages)
8x4x32 CD-writer (dont use mcuh. no poin to upgrade)
72x kenwood (FAST)
400watt Antec POWER WUPPLY
3com NIC
Floppy drive (have to have one.)

🙂

antec 400w will do perfect on your new system. I have one from old system and it's been rock stable. 12 Hrs straight of 3dmark20001 w/o a single crash so far-i plan to let it run another 2 or 3 more hrs 🙂 My old p3 system usually crash after 5-6 hrs.

and also--just remember if your system running unstable the first time--you will need to up ddr dram voltage on your epox mobo bit by bit--that's the problems on my system anyway now it is rock stable at 2.8v -some people said it's necessary if you are suing 2 dimm slot.

ok thanks. sounds good. i should be building this system monday. i used fast shipping on everything but stupid Crucial memory didnt ship it until today (ordered 2 days ago) and so i wont get til monday. those bastards =p
