Power Supply

Have been looking around for cases and especially for one with a 300w PS.

I have the following that I need to setup.

ASUS A7V mobo
Duron 750 (which I plan to overclock to 1Ghz)
Have a Hedgehog 238M HSF

Now the thing that concerns me is wether I really need a 300w PS or can I do with a 250w PS. What sort of advantages will I have if I were to get a 300w PS?

Thanks for all the input

The advantage of a 300 over a 250 is that you will have enough juice to power your system. You shouldn't get anything below 300 anyway since you plan on a gig, plus it will give you enough juice to power all future upgrades etc. Get something like an antec ks282 with the 300 watt power supply from onvia.com for $65 shipped, this is an awesome case for the price.

If you want something a tad bit nicer, then go for the Antec SX830 with the 300w PS. I think it is $80 shipped at onvia, and it comes with two 8cm * 8cm fans(I hear they are sleeve-bearing which isn't that good though). Not sure about the ks182 but the PS in the SX830 is the excellent PP-303X 300 watt power supply.

I went in for the Antec KS282...it looked pretty impressive...especially the insides. Unfortunately my budget is pretty restrictive...so cant afford anything more than the 65 I spent.

Thanks anyways for the input guys

Look at my sig... It's on 24/7 cracking RC5 and running FTP server and I never have any problem with my 235W PS.

For sheer choice, I'd check out here.

300W would be great if you have the budget. Otherwise, a GOOD 250W is adequate for most people. There are many 300W out there. A good 250W is better than a bad 300W!

You can get the Enermax 330 for about $55. That's not bad. I'm gonna get one as soon as i have enough $$$. My Powerman 235 ain't so powerfull anymore.
