Looking for a psu and dont have a lot of $ to spend. A friend of mine said he will sell me his 2 month old power supply for $25. It is a Thermaltake Silent Purepower W0014RU 480W Power Supply. I read some reviews on newegg and some people say it is a bust and dies quickly, while others say its a great psu. I am torn, can anyone help me? I dont have much to spend on a psu so $25 is awsome for me, but is this psu worth it or is it gonna just cause me a bunch of problems? So, buy or no buy?

You could probably get a quality 300W PSU online for $25.

Thermaltake PurePower PSUs are good units. I used to buy them for clients before I switched to Enermax NoiseTakers. That's a more than fair price for a PurePower 480.

Do NOT buy a cheap quality PSU - you'll regret it. REALISTICALLY you need to spend at least $70 retail for a quality PSU.

I think I have a purepower PSU (the computer is at school in chicago so I cant check to be sure) that is a little over two years old. It's quite quiet and has been running rock solid despite the fact that the 12v line is a little low (always has been, but hasnt seemed to cause problems).
