power supply?

This PSU question has been worked to death over in the General Hardware Forum. 😉

You did not list any system specs? Well videogames if you have to ask..Being that the PSU

is the single most important componet, as it does support the whole system. Get one that

has a good reputation. Do not go for flashing lights and bling-bling.

Most PCs do very well with 350-400watt units. Bang for the buck, FSP Group Fortron is VG.

Just because its an easy site to navigate, go to Newegg and look at the specs on PSUs.

You can find 400watt units that vary on the +12V line from 18-28A. Look for an efficientcy

rating of around 68%. Expect to surrender about $45 of your moola 😛

List your system specs for the next person who replies MMmmmkay.

Anandtech just did a review of that MB. AGP and PCIe, great when up-grade time comes.

Your board takes a 20 pin plug. The FSP Group ATX400-PA OEM is $37 at Newegg. It has
+12V1@18A and +12V2@18A, efficientcy>70%, it does not have PFC. I would use nothing less than this PSU. It has a 20 pin connector.

I have been using a FSP400-60PFN for three years, it lists at the egg for $60. It has
+12V@15A but i don't OC. It has active PFC.

EDIT: Here is an excellent link...Text..This review is why
I went with the PSU above. This PSU is going to be put in my sister's comp. Before it is installed, it's cooling fan will be changed out with a new one of quality with the same CFM and watt rating. To me this is just good maintainance. The caps will be inspected for bulging and/or leakage when the cover is off. She will have an ECS 755 A-2 mainboard
with a AMD 3200 754pin CPU.

Doing some research and the FSP Group ATX400-PA OEM sounds like a good buy. Anyone know if it would cause any problems with an Abit NF7-S2?

Edit: Actually, I read that review that Yankee posted and just ordered a FSP400-60PFN, hope it likes my system.

I know what a grifter is 😛

There are no gar-un-tees. It maybe DOA when you get it.

Kidding aside, I see why not. Go to Abit's site and see what PSUs

they reccomend, thay should at least have a spec, probably not a brand name.

They won't tell you to buy a Sparkle, allthough thats a good'en.

The type of load your going to have to carry will determine the correct wattage thats
needed. You should list your full system specs, fans. lights, the whole thing then determine needs.

Let videogames101 have this thread for a day or two.

I got in a hurry and messed up.

According to Abit's compatability listing for PSUs, yes grifter your board will love it.
That PSU has a thermally controlled fan and if the other system fans are not loud,
you will hear it spin-up on hot days or when really putting a load on it.
If you have not gone crazy with fans and light show 15A on the 12V line is all you need.

As far as bang for the buck, Galvanized Yankee is giving you the dope.

I use THESE 400watt Fortron Blue Storm supply's in a lot of my builds...Have one in a new box I am building for myself.

You can find the 500watt Fortron Blue Storms for around 70 bucks or less if you look around...Hell of a deal on a beast of a power supply.

OCZ's modular supplys have been getting rave reviews...Had one of THESE in the last box I built for myself, but sold it before I really had a chance to give an opinion based on experience.

Rails were rock solid and for the money seemed like a good buy...Probably sell this new box and go with the 520 for my next one.

The build quality for the Fortron's is awesome...You really cannot go wrong with Fortron.

I am far from being expert but i know why i reccomended what grifter did buy.

Why did you offer this up. The OP's board is a Socket A. The system that would be built around this mainboard does not need CHEAP dual 12V rails. This AMD does not thrive for 12V the way Intel does. This PSU also has ACTIVE PFC and 150% overload protection. I have used this model of PSU for three years and the voltages are nearly rock steady. It is one of the best moderatly powerful PSUs.The price has varied very little in the last three years.
That ought to tell you something. This is not a throw-away unit. That's why the fan will be changed-out and reinstalled in an at home comp.

Did you even read this short thread before posting?

Feel much better now 😛
