Hi all,

I've used a couple of power supply calculators, but I've been getting varying results - so could use some advice.

I'm putting a new build together and I'd like to know what sort of PSU I should be aiming for. Here are the specs:

Asus MAXIMUS VI GENE, Intel Z87 chipset
Intel Core i7 4770K, Haswell, 3.5GHz, Quad Core with HT, 8MB Cache (overclocked to at least 4.2GHz)
Corsair H100i Hydro Series, High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
16GB Total (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance LP, 1600MHz
3GB EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX, 967MHz GPU, 2304 Cores, 6008MHz GDDR5
1x Samsung SSD
1x WD Green HDD
Pioneer BDC-207DBK, 8x Blu-ray Reader, 16x DVD Reader & Writer
Creative Sound Blaster Z, Gaming Soundcard
Asus PCE-AC68, 11ac Dual-band Wireless Internal PCI-E Card
+ 4 or so USB devices

I don't plan on using SLI at any point, but I want some headroom in case future GPUs need more power.

I've been looking at the Corsair RM series, because the fan doesn't activate until it's at 40% load... but I'm happy to take other suggestions for quiet PSUs.

Would a 650W be enough or should I go for a 750W?

Thanks in advance.

I forgot to say... since quietness is really important, would paying extra for the Corsair AX760 be worth the premium or is it overkill without SLI?

Thanks again.

Without SLI, a quality 650-watter will have your machine running without you hearing it.

O/C I7 can eat up to 200w and the vid will max out about 325-350W with O/C. Add up maybe 25W of the accessories and the 650W will be perfectly fine. Check out XFX 650 or 750W they have been on sale for really cheap recently and are Seasonic Built. Antec and Corsair are also not bad, usually CWT built ones are around $50 for 650-750w. No reason to spend more than $60ish really. You can even find Seasonic Gold ones around that price.
