In some posts ive heard people say 'have you got your PSU fan sensor plugged in?'

Where is the connection on a PSU for the fan sensor?

I run PC alert 4 and i see the option for the PSU fan speed but mine has no reading... i didnt know nothing about a PSU fan sensor...

Some power supplies have a connector to allow for RPM monitoring. The connector looks just like a 3-pin fan power connector with only 1 or 2 wires, and can plug into any of the fan headers on your motherboard. A lot of boards are now labelling a header specifically as a PSU header, but in reality it doesn't matter which one you use, except that the "PSU fan speed" reading in your software will be trying to read the PSU header because the BIOS sends the information labelled that way. Of course you can't use that header to power a fan at the same time, but it can be used for a fan if you're not monitoring the PSU.
