It could be the PSU but it could also be any of the other parts of the system as well. First thing i would do is use Memtest to test teh RAM. If the PSU is going out you won't really know untill you get a new one. But mainly i suspect the RAM or the software is getting currupted.

ok, I'm stumped.

ran memtest on each stick on each slot, ran fine. Plug in both sticks and boom, re-boot. I even disconnected a drive to x2 check if it was a power draw issue.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

That actually means very little.

What make/model is your PSU? A quality 300w would be sufficient, but a craptastic one won't be.

it's an nmedia, came with the case. I would think that unplugging one of the drives would lessen the load on the ps and it would function as normal.

I guess now I need a suggestion for a decent matx power supply.

Dang, I was hoping it was memory, perfect excuse for adding 2 gig more..

:)

ok, snagged another 300 watt psu. installed and still doing the same thing, either stick in either slot, its fine, put them both in, runs memtest for 12-12 min and resets. MB? it's an ECS w/ 1 year warranty, which I'm still covered.
HELP!
Anyone got thoughts?
thanks!

I'd beg or borrow a stronger PSU and try it before buying as long as it has the selection of connectors your system needs. Don't have to mount the PSU in the case to test so it can be any physical size or shape but you will want to ground the PSU's chassis to the case frame to get a good ground for bleeding off static. If your case really needs a stronger PSU and the current one is really mATX, then it's hard to find decent brand mATX PSUs with much more power than what you have. It could just be that the power your current PSU has is not properly distributed among the rails for your system's components. Some systems (mainly older) need stronger 5V rails while newer ones need more on the 12V rails. What are the 5V and 12V ratings on your current PSU? A pic (or scan) of the PSU label would be most helpful.

ok, slapped in a 450ps and boom, keeps resetting. Sooo, I would think it points to a bad motherboard?

thanks..
