Power supply question?

...you are probably shelling out alot to build this PC. Getting some no-name brand PSU from some Ebay guy is not exactly the best way to save money. Without a good PSU and MB, you might as well build a big paperweight. Besides, if you plan on putting a good deal of high power components in there (high end vid cards, large drives, etc) with that power hungry 2.53ghz proc, then you want a well rated 430+ PSU. Alot of junk PSU's may say 450 watt, but only provide STABLE power for 300 watt.

Spend the $60-70 and get a decent Enermax.

p.s. I just searched for a few reviews on Codegen PSU's and what I said above is confirmed. Most of the reviewers report power fluctuations and problems getting near the listed max wattage.

great price but, as usual, you get what you pay for. I'd rather get a 2.4ghz chip and pay more for a better PSU. What good is few more mhz if the system is unstable due to bad power.

Power Supply?? Did someone just say Power Supply? Boy, you ask for it :) Go here Linky. I personally ordered the Allied mentioned from newegg. On that particular day, there was free shipping, now it's back to $5.00, but the price dropped $1.00. Putting it in this weekend on rig with P4-1.8 Northwood, TDk burner, LiteOn DVD, Zip 250, neon light, and 5 led fans. We'll see how stable it will be. Seems to be solidly construct, got quite a heft to it.

Pretty sure it will, look at my setup. That 1.8 northwood is gonna be overclock to about 2.4 yet. I have like 5 led case fans and neon light in the case. The Sparkle 350w from newegg is pretty good bet too, I got the Allied because the Sparkle was out of order that day and there was free shipping on tha Allied(strangely enoug, only for that day.) Can't go wrong with the Fortron from Directron either. Good luck.
