I got a Enermax 430watt (EG-465P-VE) PS

System Specs:

Soyo KT333 Dragon Ultra Platinum
Athlon XP 2000 @ 1.75GHz
GeForce3
Pioneer DVD 16x
Samsung CD-Rom RW (40x12x40)
Seagate 80gig 7200Rpm
IBM 30gig 7200Rpm

The Problem:

The above PS cant seem to power the whole system without problems. Problems include the seagate restarting over and over at spin up. The IBM drive restarting when its accessed within windows. DVD drive keep trying to spin up a cd but cant since it resets.

Which power connectors I use for which device seems to have a affect on the problems. One connector might make a HD act up while another one wont.....

The bios reports my voltages as being very close to the spec tho my 5V is floating around 4.85V.

Iv tried putting the PS on a backup is case there was a problem with my power, Iv tried not overclocking without luck. At the moment Im using a 300W PS that seems to be working fine but It doesnt have enough connectors for when I go to add some fans to my case.

Any Ideas on what is going on? Is my PS which isnt even a year old going bad on me? Perhaps a short in a connector?

Hopefully you bought it from Newegg. RMA it and get a new one from them, they cover Enermax's for a year. If it is not crashing on you then it might not be just the 5+ line responsible. Cd rom motors are powered by the 12v line, so that could be shot.

Now tell me if this makes any sense. I went ahead and cleaned all the dust out of it using air and a paintbrush. For the heck of it I tried it again and so far Its powering everything without any problems.

I cant see dust causing those kind of problems because then everyone should have problems. Ideas to this new info?
