I've got an IBM NetVista A40p 6579 RBU (933Mhz) desktop with the original 155W power supply working fine. That is, until I added a DVD drive - with it the machine powers down after a few hours. Now I think I need to upgrade the PSU. I've found some proprietary IBM PSUs at 185W, but I'm not sure if its much of an upgrade. I'd really prefer steer clear of proprietary PSUs and get a 300W fortron or antec, so my question is this:
Am I stuck with using an IBM proprietary PSU in my NetVista? Or does anyone know if I can install a standard ATX PSU instead?
