My home built pc refused to power up yesterday for no reason:frown:
IT is completly dead, I have checked the front panel switch with a multi-meter and thats working fine. The only thing I have got is the LED on the motherboard(ABIT SE6e)is on, so there is some power.Has anyone had this problem or heard of anything similar? It was working fine the night before and was shut down ok. If any of the motherboard componants like CPU or memory went bad then the pc would still start and I would get error beeps,am I right to say this. What else could be wrong apart from the power supply, any help would be great!

Odd... what powersupply were you using before? Company name (or no name?) and wattage along with system specs would help.

The case and power supply are made by Enlight(250watt),Its an Abit SE6e motherboard with 128 meg dimm,566MHz celeron cpu,Voodoo3000 agp card, sound blaster live sound card, network card. Its not overclocked in any way and never has been. Its run fine for 3 months with no probs and now this.

you don't have many high draw components, your p/s may have been a pos but i don't know. Did you move it any between when it was on and when it turned off? i've seen processors pop loose before.

Thanks for your swift reply. No the pc is never moved. I have pressed home all pci componants and cpu/memory.What I feel might be happening is that the power supply is not switching on with the signal from the motherboard,I know the switch is good as I said before.I think I will have to try a new power supply first and if that dosn't work it must be the motherboard but I can't for the life of me think why that could have gone. This is my second home built and my first major problem so I haven't done to bad. Thanks again for your reply.:)
