power supply problem

I bought a new Compucase 6A19 that comes with a HEC 300W PSU. I also bought a new Enermax NoiseTaker 485W PSU. I tried making the Enermax work, connected it to the wall, and the fans don't move at all. I thought maybe it has to be connected to a motherboard or something for it to work, or maybe there is something that recognize the tempeture and the fans only work from a cetain tempture or something?
Thanks.

You do not want to start up a power supply without a load on it, you can possibly damage it. Also unless you short the power good signal on the motherboard connector to ground, you can't turn on the power supply without being connected to a motherboard anyway. In anycase, good choice with the enermax, I've been very happy with mine. I have a 350w and a 460w.
