Power Supply or MOBO dead?

Well last night I did some wire management and pulled and reinstalled all of the wiring in my rig. When I tried to turn on my system, it would start up for a split second and immediatley shut off. I tried the power button a few more times with the same result. I unplugged all of my drives and fans and now the system will not turn on at all. I do not have any spare parts to help troubleshoot the issue.

make sure everything is securely plugged in. i know it seems stupid but hey with any tech troubleshooting start with the basics.
edit-double check ALL your connections on your mobo make sure they are right.

I'll second the suggestion to verify everything is snuggly plugged in.

If that doesn't work, unplug everything but the two spots on the motherboard & the video card (if that's required). Remove all but 1 stick of RAM & all cards but the GPU. Pull all USB devices etc. Try booting then.

Ok I checked my connections, and my power supply switch was incorrectly plugged in. However after fixing that I tried to start it up again and the PSU fan would turn on for a sec then shut back down. I tried the paperclip trick with the PSU and the internal fan would spin normally. I hooked up a fan to one of the power connectors and that too would spin correctly. I managed to borrow a friend's old rig, hooked up my PSU to the mobo and start it up. However I would get the same result....PSU fan would spin for a second and shut down.

Well if it doesn't work on your friends rig sounds like your psu needs to be replaced. Weird though your talking about the switch from the front of your computer to your mobo right? Last time i did that it didnt fry anything just wouldn't boot. But that was 4 years ago when I started fiddling with computers on an old p3....

I had problems before where the female part of connector was spread apart to much and even tho the molex connector looked to be connected snugly it wasn't. I bought a connector tool which is made to remove the pins but just used it to close the gap on the connector. Here a link from newegg not the tool i used but its similar.

oh and just to post i did it again with an amd rig i was working on a couple of days ago
put the 24 pin molex on backwards (im such a hazard sometimes but only with my own equipment) had no boot reversed it and everything is fine now
