Power Supply Options..

I was planning to order a new PS for a new system I am building. The system will consist of a 250gig Seagate (Perp Recording) SATAII drive, x1900xtx, 2 GB Corsair DDR2 PC2-6400 4-4-4-12, DVD-RW. DVD-ROM, E6300 Core 2 Duo, P5B-Deluxe and the Power supply I was looking at looks like a really good deal and should work for me but I was wanting some other opinions. The power supply is an Antec Neo HE 550W. The catch is that it is only for 69.99 retail from Frys.com which is even lower than anything listed on froogle, pricegrabber, and pricewatch. Typically its avg price is 115...so is this a good deal and/or good power supply for the setup I am getting? Thanks ahead...

the antec neoHE will work fine. It's not what a good number of us here at AT would recommend, however, as there are 'better' psu's to be had for even cheaper (enhance and fortron units come to mind).

You could do better with an Enermax or better with a Seasonic, but it's your call. If you want recommendations on PSUs, checkout jonnyguru.com and look at efficiency and quiteness IMO.

I have an Antec PS, which I like very much...after I got one that worked. I bought from CompUSA and had to go back 3 times to get a good one. I'm not going to say that it is Antec's fault, because I'm just lucky that way.

No, it's Antec's fault. But, at least the 550 watt Neo HE is the one that Seasonic builds for them, IIRC, which would make it their best psu.
