Alright, I just traded a complete Pc, for 2 mobo combos, a couple video cards and misc parts...

I went to test run to bios an abit mobo, got the ram in, cpu, video card and keyboard, plugged the ATX plug in the mobo, when to swith the psu on and it wouldn't startup?

Do I have a bad psu, or am i missing something?

psu is an enermax 431

could be a number of things. It's all a process of elimination that can take some time.

You really need a second machine to be able to test the parts individually, ie, slap the power supply into a second machine that you know is working fine to see what happens there.

It's the motherboard that tells the PSU to fire up when you press the button on the front of the case. It could be that you've plugged the switch for the computer incorrectly and so the motherboard is not getting the command to boot up. Are the any LEDs lit on your motherboard? some motherboards have LEDs to inform you of a standby power flow, this would eliminate a blown fuse as a possibility.

It also could be a rogue screw down the back of the motherboard that's making it fail.

Try the above if poss and let us know the results.

Hope this helps!
