I have this power supply. About a week ago I was playing a game and my computer just shutoff and would not restart. I pulled the ATX connecter and did the paper clip power supply test trick(connect green to black) to see if it would turn on. It did, so I plugged it back in and everything worked fine. Last night, I went to turn on my computer and nothing. I did the same thing as before but still nothing. I removed the powersupply and plugged it into a different outlet and test it again. Still nothing. I did this few times. The fan would twitch put not spin. I spun the fan manually a few times to make sure it had not frooze up. It spun fine. I tested it again a few time and still nothing. I was going to call it dead when I decided to test it one more time and guess what it start right up. I tested it a few more times and everytime it started right up. I put it back in my computer, then I played Supreme Commander demo for about 3 hours straight with no problems. I also tested the 5 and 12 volt lines with my volt meter before I put it back in my case. It read 6 and 13.5. I though this was high, but another older powersupply I have tested about the same with nothing plugged in and testing it with a paper clip. So I guess that is normal. So is it dieing? It is less than 6 months old and under warrenty. Should I replace it and use the new one they send me or buy a new. What is a good <$100 power supply. I plan to upgrade to a 8600gt or something near that soon. I have one HD and DVD burner. The rest of my computer is in my sig.
