MY computer just started to make a hissing noise after i added a antec trupower 430watt powersupply. and its not a constant hiss its more of like when im doing something with my computer like games and stuff. its not my monitor because when i turn monitor off it still does it. it started when i got this powersupply. I never heard this noise with my other antec trupower 430 i have in another computer.

Is this normal or is my power supply bad?

Have you tried the power supply in the other system (specifically the one with the current working version of the same model?). If so, check to see if it still has the same problem.

Most likely it will. It could be something like a capacitor problem which would indicate a problem somewhere in the unit, but I'm just throwing out a guess. By no means am I an except in PSUs. ;) Since it's only kicking in when the system is doing something, it could also be the fan's bearings; this is a very common problem (usually lack of lubrication by the bearings).

What kind of hissing sound is it?

well its sordof the kind of noise u would hear from a monitor or something once in a while for some strange reason. cant really explain it.

ugh. ive had 3 trupower powersupplies. 1 works fine. 1 the fans didnt work. and the other makes this noise . sigh.

hmm when i scroll my mouse up and down when on a website it makes this noise lol. hmm and i turn monitor ff sitll does this. probaly hard drive then i just never heard it before. gets annoying :p

EDIT: opened case. decided to scrol up and down and its definatly not ocming from hard drive. its coming from the power supply area :(

why would this happen? scrolling my mouse up and down shouldnt cause this should it ?:p Also does it with scrolling up and down with a keyboard (using the arrow keys).

very annoying. anyone else have this problem :\

i have strong reason to believe that antec PSUs suck a large rod.

that's not normal, and it probably is your PSU - my last cheapo one did it and eventually failed after about 1-2 years.
stay tuned, your unit should fail in a few years at most, i suspect.

i hate doing this to newegg. I HATE IT. But i might send this power supply back and get a PC power and cooling.

Funny thing is. MY 12v is 11.84. On my other antec it was 11.92.

seems like thsi one is WORSE than the other :\

is the PC POWER AND COOLING SILENCER power supply really silent? Also is it a really nice powersupply (worth the $100 or so over a enermax)?

I dont want to open up my power supply to replace to fan. Ive done it before just dont want to do that.

I have the money. I just want something thats good and quiet. I dont want to have to change my powre supply or buy a new power supply for a long time.... Figure u buy this kind of thing once and it lasts u long time. Hopefully this is the case. But the tsupid antec is making a weird noise and it gets on my nerves :(

Is the ENERMAX EG365AX-VE (W)FMA or ENERMAX EG365P-VE(FCA) Quiet power supplies? There fan is manually controlled so i would turn it to lowest settings? Or would the PC POWER AND COOLING be quieter?

From what I've read the PC Power and Cooling power supplies are supposed to be the best. They have extremely tight tolerances. Sorry I don't have any links to prove it. I don't know if they are quiet or not.
