Hey everyone I just went to a SB build and my corsair 650tx now makes a weird noise whenever I'm in game.

Its definitely from the PSU... and it comes and goes instantly as I minimize/maximize a game. Seems like it only happens under heavy load. This did not happen with my c2q setup...

I cant describe the sound, it kind of sounds like electric waves... like a transformer or something. Sometimes it is a clicking. Any ideas?

Try disabling anything that says "Spread Spectrum" in BIOS/UEFI. Alternately if they are disabled, try enabling them.

Whats the specs of your rig? Any overclocking being done?

i2500k @ 4.2/auto
Asus P8P67 (UEFI)
GTX 470 @ 800/1600/1800/1.075v
8GB DDR3 1333
1 HD, 1 DVD
5 or 6 case fans

650 should be fine...

I will try that when I get home!

Changing the Spread Spectrum settings did not help =/

Someone in another thread here had the same problem.. Coil whine? System doesn't draw any more power now than it did before the upgrade though...

If possible get a new PSU that has a good return policy, like no re stocking fee and install it in your new system and see if that gets rid of the problem. I did and my buzzing went away, it was my corsair psu 620hx that was going bad...
