I bought a Asus P5GD2 Deluxe-- I love it already, even though it is fairly unstable.
It froze twice during the XP install and now on occasion it won't repost after a software restart through windows XP. It's locked up only once while in windows using it.

I can't gripe about any of this...i'm using a 20-Pin powersupply. (enermax 370w noisetaker)

I looked at the pin-out diagrams for 20-pin and 24-pin connectors and they are all the same but the extra four "top" pins are an additional ground and then 3 other live voltage lines of different potential.

Since the pins were the same I tried to see if the 20pin connecter would plug right into the 24pin port. The 20 identical pins matched up and the cable plugged all the way in...The green power light on the MB came on and it booted fine...I figured I was good to go.

I'll get a new powersupply.

Questions:

Is what I did with the 20pin connector completely retarded, or should that work fine?

Can I get an EPS 24pin powersupply? Is this the same type of 24 pin connector my asus needs?
The eps ps that I looked at DO NOT have the 4 pin 12v "p4" connector that I also need. They have 6 and 8 pin aux adapters. Does one of those work in place of the 4 pin connector?
If eps isnt the answer, what is??

Additional info
P4 3.0 lga775
2x 512 HyperX
PCIe 16x leadtek 6600GT
Adaptec PCI SCSI 2940uw2.. (best guess at actual model number)

Thanks
Austin

I had the same problem when I first got my P5AD2 Premium. I was trying to use an Enermax 365 watt power supply. Worked fine for about the first week and then just started rebooting and freezing. An OCZ Powerstream 520 solved my problems. It has the 24 pin connector.
