Power Supply issues with 9NDA+ and Venice

I am just setting up my new 9NDA3+ and 3200 Venice, but my first efforts to get the system to post were met with a small flick of the fans and FF code on the LED. I was starting with a minimal setup - Board, RAM, CPU Video card etc.

I decided to try something different so I held down the start button and switched on the power supply. The new board kicked into life straight away. Thinking it was a bios problem I was able to flash to the latest version - but the problem still exists. I should point out that I am using and old 350 Watt Codegen PS as a test.

Am I right in blaming the PS and if so what are other 9NDA3+ owners using with this setup.

Thanks in advance

I am not very happy with my 9nda3+. The packaging and features made it look like a great board, but I can't get my ram clock stable on anything above 200mhz with my patriot XBL. According to others results I should be able to get up to around 230mhz without backing down to much on the timings. After I flashed with the latest bios, I had to back it down to 190mhz to keep it stable. I have some corsair XMS and a Venice 3000+ on the way to see if it makes a difference.

To answer your question though, I would highly recommend picking up a more powerful power supply. A good 350w is considered barely usable anymore with high power components.

350watt is too low. Not to mention ive never heard of that brand psu, which makes it even worse. Most people have 500watts+ these days.

Thanks for the input - I kind of thought that was the problem, it seems strange that it just would not start. I can understand having stability problems after starting up - especially when overclocking.

I will pick up an new PSU tomorrow and try again. It seems people are getting mixed results with this board - Epox usually has a reputation for building good overclocking boards and I have been happy with their prducts in the past.

Celeryman, I have 2 sticks of Corsair XMS - once I get the PSU issue sorted I want to try some overclocking with the 3200+ so I hope a new PSU fixes the problem.

OP - I'm using an OCZ Modsource 520.

Celeryman - try using DIMM slots 3 & 4 instead of 1 & 2
