I want to purchase a new power supply and am trying to find reviews on them, and can't find anything recent. The only thing I have found are reviews a year or more old (ancient history in computers). I want one around 400W.

What I want is review(s) that does in depth research on the EXACT output of the supplies under FULL rated load and how clean the power is (as seen on an oscilloscope).

What I don't want is a review that says "we tried this power supply on our basic, no frills computer, it posted and we didn't see smoke, so it must be great" ;) No offense, but that doesn?t help with my decision, I am looking for FACTS.

I have looked and looked for reviews like this and have not found any. Anyone have any clues where to find this info???? Thanks!!!!!

As you found out there are not very many ps reviews, even Anand gave up (I read) on the long awaited power supply roundup. The general consensus is the new Antec True Power are great and finally quiet.

The PC Power & Cooling 400w have the best specs and tightest regulation, and this level of perfection has a price. I paid it, and have had no problems. PC P&C is a small company and has excellent customer support, you can call and get a live person with no waiting.

PC Power Turbo Cool gets my vote, I use the 450w and it is very reliable along with line conditioning.
My oc/s have always been higher with this power supply.
I replaced my Antec with 450w Turbo Cool and gained over 100mz immediately. Rock stable

I'm not sure that anyone goes to that extent testing a PSU, so I'm not sure of where you could find such info.

I'll cast my vote for the Antec TruePower PSU's though. Antec is well known for quality products. I just ordered a TruePower 550, should be here in a few days. :)

I just got home to read all your replies, THANKS for the advice. Looks like I will have to rely on "word of mouth" for my decision.

I may be wrong, but my opinion (for what that is worth) is that, not enough importance is placed on the power supply. The best components in the world won't perform up to standard without good clean power. With computers performing at speeds and tolerances that they are, it wouldn't take much of a glitch in the power going to them, to cause problems. This can be proven by the fact that most computers will overclock higher with a high quality supply. That doesn?t mean that there isn't a problem with the power at lower clock speeds, the problem just shows up when you reach the limit of the other components.

O.K., I'm done ranting now. How about it Anand, maybe a good power supply review??? --- It is part of a computer you know!! :) ;) :D

Do a forum search for Antec, sparkle, and enermax for a ton of user feedback. I would say a very high percentage of hardware geeks, including myself, use one or more of the aforementioned units.
