POwer supply go boom

So i have this cool looking 400 watt switching RAIDmax aluminum power supply. Of course with my new custom built window I get the idea that I I'm super-mod-man and attempt with install blue LED fans to replace the clear ones on the front and back of my power supply. So I install em with a friend's help and get em running just fine, oooh ahh. All of a sudden the fuse breaks in my room... I switch the fuse back on wondering wtf happened thniking maybe I was just running too many things at once, and turn off my window fan and lights. I plug in my computer a ZAP a blue spark flies out the back of my PSU... I don't understand why this happened, I removed this plastic film glues to the top of the PSU's chassis but I thought it was to prevent the large heatsinks from touching the top, so I protected that region with electrical tape. I can't see where the shrot circuit occured. Any ideas? Should I even attempt to use this PSU again? Would replacing that plastic film do the job?

Perhaps you didn't wire them correctly or they were drawing too much power, or both. Hopefully you haven't fried your computer 🙂
