Power supply for 9700 pro?

What sort of power supply would be required for stable 9700 performance? Am considering getting it for myself but a friend of mine is getting it definitely, but her power supply is only 250 watt, and I know that doesn't entirely cut it for the Ti4600... She's got a scanner and I think an HP photo printer . And two drives, one CD-RW, one DVD. And a floppy of course. I think that's it.

Any info would be appreciated!

Guess it depends on what else you'll have in there. The power connector on the 9700 is the little floppy style. The manual says "a 300W power supply or greater is recommended to ensure normal operation where a number of other internal devices are installed".

I've got mine in a rig with 3 HD's, 2 CD/DVD's, A SCSI card, an iWill Raid card, an adaptec duo-connect firewire/usb, an audigy ex, and 2 active fans. I have an enermax whisper 431. This new rig is fantastically quiet!

Anymore, I tend to overdo it with power. Whenever you post a stability problem here, the first thing people question is your power. I was going to go 500W, but wanted something quiet, so settled for this 431. It's also a question about the quality of the power supply, not just the watts rating. So go with a quality supply and save yourself some headaches.

I say it depends on quality......
GF4 Ti4600 , Radeon 9700 seem to work fine in the Shuttle XPC series...and they only come with 200 W PSUs....
