power supply fan

I just replaced my power supply fan...but the thing is so loud now. Is there anything I can do to change the volts on it to make it quieter! There are only 2 wires. Black and red. Can I put a diode in series with it to clamp the voltage down?

lol i need to do the same thing with one of my comps. the 80mm psu is @%# loud. it shouldn't be either, fans not high rpm.

I replaced the fan with Panaflow in one comp and re-wired it to 7V in another one (it used very thin 80mm fan that I couldn't replace)
