I've got a noisy PS fan that I've got to replace. It's an ATX 250N. Is it a standard 80mm fan?...Also need about 250' of Cat5 cable/ends/crimper. I can only find 100' or 1000'. Nothing inbetween. (Wire is going to be underground so I don't want any splices). Recommend a good place to buy? Thanks!

yup, standard 80mm fan
search for the cables america web site, i think they sold it by the foot, you might also check local computer shops that might purchase spools of cat5 and sell it to you by the foot

Category-rated UTP is not rated for external use. Running that distance outside is extremely dangerous, and typically against code (unless proper disconnect / entrance isolators / protection are used).

The likelyhood of potential between the grounds of the two locations can result in high voltage potential: it may or may not be enough to kill you, but, frequently IS enough to smoke the equipment you're hooking up.

You should be using fiber, or possibly wireless.

Cat5/5e/6 outdoors is a really bad idea, even in conduit, even in PVC.

Good Luck

Hmmmm. In that case I wonder if a wireless would run effeciently at about 100' from my house to my exterior garage?
