Power Supply Fan Question

I recently installed an Enermax 351P-VE 330w power supply in my AOpen HX45 midtower ATX case. The p.s. has two fans - one that exhuasts air out the back of the p.s., and a second one that blows air out the bottom of the p.s., over the mainboard.

As I've thought about this it seems that better airflow could be achieved if both fans were drawing air from the case, through the p.s. box, out the back of the case. Am I missing something here? Am I way off base? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

FYI, other cooling equipment in this case include: 80mm front case fan (Sunon quiet fan) drawing in, three-fan hard drive cooler drawing in, Super Slot Fan exhausting through a backplane slot, Thermaltake Golden Orb HSF on an FC-PGA P!!!-650 cB0 (not overclocked, yet <g>).

The bottom fan should not be blowing air onto the mb, it should be "sucking" air into the power supply...

ALl enermax dual-fan units use this "push-pull" configuration to help in case cooling + keep the power supply components nice and cool.

The Enermax should not be set so the bottom fan blows down like Mikewarrior2 said. Mine pulls the air through the bottom fan, and out of the rear fan. It would not be efficient to have two fans working against one another. If yours is really set that way, you should reverse it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to check again to see what direction that bottom-facing fan is blowing. If it is blowing down on the mobo I'm going to reverse it. Glad to hear you two are thinking the same way on this as I.

Guys, my bad. I don't know why I got it in my head that the bottom-facing fan was blowing down into the case, instead of up into the p.s. I took a piece of tissue and held it up against the bottom-facing fan, and of course it's drawing up in to the p.s.

I'll chock it up to today being Friday the 13th, rather than admit that I had a brain skip instead <g>.
