I'm not sure whether this is fine or not, but i just realized that my Antec fan is not running... is it ok? I believe that it should be running at all time right to keep it cool down...? sigh... I tried to find the cable, but I'm not sure which cable is the one that is going to make this fan moves since power supply is the one who's giving the power to most of the part's fan e.g CPU... please help, thanx a lot

Which Antec psu? The SmartPower's exhaust rear fan spins upon reaching certain temperatures, while the second fan spins on power up pushing air thru the psu to keep the components cool. This design has led to unnecessary RMA and cap failures.

Since the rear 80mm fan is temp. controlled, and doesn't spin all of the time, people would RMA the unit thinking it was defective. The issue with the fan also had an impact on the capacitors, and a lot of units started failing prematurely. They come with a 3 yr. warranty, so any new RMA's should net an EarthWatts in return.

SmartPower 2's have a fan inside that spins all the time while the fan outside doesn't spin until certain temperatures are reached. Since there are weak capacitors that were used inside the unit (Fuhjyyu), they tend to start bulging and/or leaking electrolyte all over the place. You will experience random reboots during load and sometimes straight shut downs. If you're unlucky, you might get a blown unit that burns up half your motherboard in the process. As soon as you feel any instability, feel free to RMA to Antec. They have very good customer support service and got me a replacement within the week. Sell the replacement and get another PSU unless they send you an Earthwatts (which you might as well keep). When I RMAed, they sent me back another SmartPower 2. YMMV.
