My computer has decided that, if it gets shut down, you will have to take the whole thing apart & jiggle the power supply wires in order to get it to come back to life. Is this a failure of the power supply? If I got a new power supply, do I just have to make sure the wattage matches to guarantee a compatible model? Thanks for your help!

Your motherboard may have a problem with the ATX power control, either with a component or just a strange setting in your CMOS. Try going into your CMOS and saving the settings again, even if you don't change them.

You may also just need to clean some contacts, or the way actual contacts in the connector are attached to the wires may be going flakey.

Try your power supply with another system or another power supply wity yours. That will help you isolate where the problem is.

Hope that helps.
