Power supply dying?

Hello,

I'm trying to determine if my power supply is dying, or if maybe it's a motherboard issue.

I returned home from a vacation yesterday, which meant my computer was off for a few days (typically it runs 24/7). When I went to turn it on, it came on for a second and turned off. This happened a few more times, until finally it booted up.

It was fine until a short while ago when it randomly shut off. Then I had the same problem turning it on again.

I don't have a spare power supply or motherboard to test with. Which do you think is the most likely culprit?

Thanks!

Edit: BTW, the PS is 2.5 years old (PC Power and Cooling S75QB)

Do you get any random beeps when you try to turn it on? Outside the normal booting beeps that is.

No and no. It just comes on for a second (or less), then turns off.

I have several hard drives in the system, so perhaps it's the draw of the initial spin-up. But everything has worked fine for the 2.5 years I've had the PS.

Could be either the mobo or PSU, really. Impossible to say for sure without any spare part to test with. Is it not possible to borrow a PSU from a friend?
