Power Supply died... now what?

My computer was in storage for around a month, so I set it up and when I first turned it on I heard something like firecrackers going off inside my case, then a burnt smell. I quickly unplugged it from the wall and knew I was in something deep.

Now, other than buying a new power supply, how do I go about looking for what is damaged, and not damaged. I am pretty sure that the motherboard is shot to hell, but how about the rest.

Anyone have any good, systematic / cost effective ways of doing this?

I wouldn't be so quick to replace parts just yet. Your motherboard might be ok, it might not. As a precautionary measure, I would make sure the motherboard is clean and still mounted properly before powering on a new PSU. Compressed air and alcohol (if you want it squeaky clean) will do the trick.

I had something similar to me a while ago, sucks, doesn't it? Anyways, what you pretty much have to do is find someone who will let you mess with their computer and test your parts out one at a time. When I say test, I mean more then just see if it powers up. Run memory tests on your sticks, SMART testing on hard drives, etc. Power flux can do a lot of non obvious damage that you will cause major headaches later if you don't make them a minor headache now.
