Power Supply Choices

I have a friend running a Duron 800 on an ASUS A7V. 256MB RAM, 2 Hdds, and a 12X CD-RW. The 250W power supply recently went kaput. Should I replace it with a 250W or just upgarde it to a 300W? Also, any suggestions on ps brands? I'm looking to buy an Antec ps simply because mine has been so reliable. Any info would be appreciated!
 
250 will be enough, but it wouldn't hurt to get 300, if just for the security. Antec is an excellent choice, Enermax is also very good.
 
I'd probably go with a Antec or Enermax 300 also. Both are very good brands. Don't chance it with some generic psu cuz that could cause lots of problems...
 
Antec and Enermax are 2 of the most renowned and popular PSU choices around here, but they're also quite expensive, especially for a Duron. My advice would be to just get a cheaper PSU, but just make sure that its AMD approved, better yet Intel P4 approved, and if you have the means check the individual voltage rails for the current ratings, make sure they measure up to others.
 
I recommend you go with a Sparkle or Enermax 300W. I don't see any reason to buy a 250W with how cheap you can get a 300W now.
 
Just bought a antec 400 watt PS ,from compusa of all places, for $50. It is more quite than the sparkle 250 it replaced despite having 2 fans. Solved some niggling stability issues and I can now overclock by 12% at stock voltage where I couldn't even post b4. 50 bones was a steal, baybe it was miss marked. 🙂
 
The antec Truepower series are nice! (I do feel suddenly very unappreicated by some people on this forum who just can not give anything a rest. Not talking about you all but some other people. They think i am trying to start something when i am really not and trying to just help. I guess thats why no one can ever get along with them. Too bad. No offense to anyone else here. Most of the time when people try to annoy you they are jealous for some reason but i have no idea why they would be. Sad.)
