Hey all.
Being that im not the most knowledgeable(read noob) when it comes to power supplies. I figured i would inquire the collective mind of the PSU forum for help.
I currently have an older(3-4yr old now) ThermalTake tough power 700 watt PSU. It's got four +12V rails, and says it can handle a 56A load.
This week i picked up a GTX 580 at too good a deal to pass up, and was wondering if this card might be pushing the limits of this PSU combined with everything else i have in the rig.
Current setup as follows:
i7 920(not overclocked yet, i know when i do it will require a new PSU with the 580)
EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI X58 Mobo
12GB Dominator ram
3 HD, two 7200 rpm, one 10k
Bluray burner
5 120mm fans
Current card(GTX 260)
and the usual assortment of USB attachments(tablet, mouse keyboard etc)
Anyway, any input would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure im not risking the dreaded *POP* if i put this card into the current rig. If it's cutting it close, i can just go get a newer PSU with more power and a single 12v Rail, but if i can hold off a while that would be pretty good on my wallet.
