So I was playing WOW, and then suddenly my screen freezes up and I hear a screaching sound though my headphones. I try restarting my comp, and then the screen just stays blank, although it seems like power is running to all the fans. I look into my psu and see two caps are busted open and have leaked.

Anyway, I'm assmuing its time for a new psu. My old one was an antec smartpower 350 that came with my case. My computer has been beefed since I got that psu, so Im assuming the psu got strained too much or I just got a lemon that died.

I dont know how much wattage im gonna need, so my specs are:
Mobile Athlon xp overclocked to 2.2 ghz with a 200fsb
1gb of pc 3200 ram
2 hdd
6800 vanilla
1 dvdrw
Abit Nf7-s

I also want the psu to be somewhat future proof, so when I upgrade and end up completly overhauling my system, I dont need another psu.

What suggestions do you have? Im a but clueless as to what I could get.

Thanks :)

The Seasonic S12 is a great choice, all Japanese caps, APFC throughout the line, and very high efficiency; you can't do much better.

If you want future proof move up to the 380 or 430 watt S12; which will handle just about anything.

A seasonic 330W should be sufficent as would a 300/350W fortron, it's not the power that it's being asked to supply, it's that it's degraded with age, one of the major issues antec PSUs have is that they run faily hot and antec went for cheaper capacitors that don't like being heated up.

Seasonic will have the M series out soon which would be worth waiting for if you have to have modular. Otherwise SilverStone has a high-end unite (Strider?) based on a very high quality Enhance that is modular but it's very expensive. There is also the Enermax LIberity but it?s no Enhance or Seasonic.
