I am ordering an Athlon 1.2 or 1.33 from newegg and wanted to get a new power supply, because I have a cheap 250W right now. Which of the supplies that they sell would be the best to get. I saw the A1 330W and also the Sparkle. Also, is there any reason to buy the 1.33 Thunderbird over the 1.2 for the $32 difference.
Thanks a lot!

check out the enermax 431watt Ps they have at newegg. It is supposed to rock, but it is $80. As for getting the 1.33 over the 1.2?? I just got the 1.2 and it is axia and unlocked from the factory! I can OC it to 1.5ghz no prob....so it's up to you!

I don't think any of the current Enermax's there are good for that cpu. I ordered the A1 400W but had a helluva time finding info about it. It's approved for Athlon 1.4GHz, but the pic for it is not the same as the one listed. Anyone familiar with the A1's?

I am not sure that statement is true. I did a search on "power supply" on all the forums, and the Enermax 431 is one of the few that people love for high powered Athlon.

Also, re: the A1's, I also did searches on A1 and came up with nothing. If people are using them, they are not talking about them.

What was the difference? I am looking at buying this PS, but am also looking at an Antec 350w(pp352x)that I found for $48 shipped.

Thanks.

-One difference is the model number clearly shown on the pic. Another is the fact that dual fans are listed, and it doesn't appear in the picture that the psu has a fan or even a vent where there should be one. I think newegg changed their page concerning these issues the same day I posted this, although it's been corrupt for a while.

So, would you recommend this PS?

I am looking at that one or an Antec 350w (pp352x). I think my 300w Powerman is flaking out on me.

I can't feel confident recommending any power supply at this point with my limited knowledge on the subject, but I don't feel anyone else in this thread is qualified to make an educated assessment either. I took my chances with the Enermax 430W and ordered that. I can at least trust that the Enermax shouldn't smolder like the CompUSA one did, or cause black screen lock ups like a generic one did.

Thanks.

After much research, I decided to go with the Antec 350w. The 300w Antec is running systems at 1500, so the 350 should be fine for my lowly 1000.

i don't think there is a need to get the 1.33 over the 1.2. they might overclock the same, so in the end, it might not matter.
